The Top 4 job hunting trends of 2014

Trends are always a good read, so I’ve been saving a link to an article called “The Trends You’ll Want to Embrace During This Year’s Job Hunt.”job hunting trends

The trends predicted by author Amanda Clark, are:

  1. Embrace the concept of working remotely
  2. Freelancing or contract work will dominate
  3. Your social media platforms matter
  4. Understand that you should always be looking

You can imagine how happy I was to see the fourth one, which of course has long been my philosophy. About it, Clark says:

“Employment situations can change quickly, and you may have to be job hunting even if you had no intention of doing so. When you know what the market looks like and what kinds of skills are required, you’re able to adjust easily and get back into the hunt seamlessly.”

So true. Today, I’m at what I hope will be the last full-time office job of my long career. But I still look at ads every day to keep abreast of the market. A million things could go wrong to cause a change in my situation and I need to be ready. As my book says, always be job hunting.
