How Should College Students Be Job Hunting?

One of the philosophies of Always Be Job Hunting is that it’s never too early to be looking for work. That includes while you’re still a student.

U.S. News & World Report recently had a great piece, “Seven Ways College Students Can Gain An Edge on the Job Hunt.”

The list focuses on getting experiences with summer and other jobs, networking with teachers, alumni and even the parents of friends who could one day either provide valuable references or have a job to offer.

Another tip — develop leadership skills through extracurricular activities that can help in the job hunt and in that first post-graudation job.

The tips echo points in my book, namely that everything you do, whether in school or on a job, should be directed to making you a more salable commodity in the job market.
