Health and fitness are never two things that are out of the public eye. The fitness industry has exploded in recent years, largely thanks to the rise of the internet and all the educational resources it has brought with it. Are you a people person who loves helping other people achieve their goals? If so, a role as a personal trainer could be the ideal job for you. Personal training, however, isn’t a career you can simply fall into, even if you’ve been working out your whole life. You have to be trained in many different areas, including in health and safety, before you can become a Level 2 Gym Instructor. Once you are qualified, you can either work independently, sourcing your clients or as part of a wider gym group.
Social media has played a huge role in breaking open the fitness industry, with some of the most followed accounts on Instagram now being fitness accounts. If you’re a dab hand with a camera and find that you can write well, why not consider starting up your own fitness blog to document your progress? Thanks to brand deals and sponsorships this has become a viable career for many people, and there are plenty of online fitness communities you can easily get involved in.
For the more science-minded among us, a career as a dietitian can be incredibly rewarding and interesting. Dietitians study the effects that different foods have on our bodies, and offer their clients advice and meal plans to help them achieve their goals. This is another role that will require going into higher education, as you need to understand food like the back of your hand. But if you have a passion for health and want to ward people away from dangerous fad diets, a role as a dietitian could be ideal for you.
