Getting Comfortable in Your New Office

It can take a while to make yourself comfortable at a new job. There are new people to meet, new ways of working to get a grasp of and a boss to impress. If you can make your new office a safe haven for while you’re working you’ll find you’re more productive and you don’t leave everyday feeling stressed to the max. Here are a few ways of making life a bit easier for yourself in the office.

Get Your Computer Screen Right

Whether you’re actually working or playing around on social media, your computer screen is something you’ll stare at for up to forty hours every week. If it’s positioned so your neck is at an awkward angle or you have to sit uncomfortably to get a full view, you’re going to complaining of back and neck ache in no time. Adjust the screen so it’s at eye level and right in front of you.

Brighten the Place Up

Not everything in an office has to be black and grey. The company you work for may not have the budget to splash new colours of paint everywhere but there are things you can do to make your personal space a bit more cheerful. Add colourful accessories, put up some bunting, some people even use bits of patterned carpet as coasters.

Add Some Art

If you’ve got a desktop or wall space behind your computer, fill it with things that inspire you. Add pictures of artwork you love, stick up some inspirational quotes and you can’t go wrong with a funny calendar.

Throw in Some Plants

An office plant can really brighten your day when you walk in, especially when they’re in bloom. However, you do have to make sure you water it and there’s natural sunlight available. If you have a habit of letting your plants die, perhaps an artificial plant may be a better idea.

Office Exercise

Although brightening up your office space is ideal when you have to spend a few hours every day there, it’s important to remember to get up and have a change of scenery. Many offices are incorporating exercise for their workers now, such as Yoga. It can make a huge difference to how you work and feel throughout the week. It’s also important to know your fegli options when you take on a new job.

When All Else Fails

When all else fails and you just can’t think of new ways to improve your office experience, googly eyes never fail. Stick them on your pens, your office phone, your mouse. They’ll make you smile wherever you decide to put them. It’s perfect for when something happens in the office to put everyone in a bad mood. Get a few pens with googly eyes and pass them around to your colleagues. It will work wonders!

We’re always on the go these days and sometimes it’s just nice to stop and think of ways to improve our quality of life and health.
